Postpartum Support:
Mothering the Mother
An avenue for healing humanity
After the miraculous journey of growing a new human, and the incredible power and strength of birthing this human into the world, a mother is torn open: her old self dead as her new self births again. Motherhood is a physical and spiritual rite of passage for a woman, though in modern times is seldom honored as so. In fact, every culture worldwide has or had an ancestral practice honoring the postpartum time. There was an acknowledgement that a new mother's support of her entire being - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual - would reflect not only in her health for the rest of her life but the health of her child, her community, and the world at large. How a society treats its mothers is a reflection of that society's core values.
In generations of late, this universal knowledge and awareness has been lost. Mothers are now expected to "bounce back" physically, return to work within weeks, show off baby to anyone and everyone, and generally return to "business as usual" as soon as the birth is over. None of this is biologically normal nor desirable, for both baby and mother.
We must, collectively, re-member how to truly and whole-istically support mothers. We must revive the older-than-time practices of "mothering the mother" that live deep within our bones.
If you are currently pregnant or plan to become pregnant soon, the time is NOW to plan your postpartum. Get in touch with me today, and let’s begin the process!

It is my absolute honor to serve mothers and families during this tender postpartum time.
Support Offerings

Many traditions across the globe specifically highlight the importance of postpartum recovery and support for the first 40 days or so. These traditions also tend to center care around several core values: warmth, rest, nourishment, bodywork, and community support. I support mothers in this by utilizing many traditional worldwide practices, and some of my own, including:
-
Heart-centered, non-judgmental listening and witnessing
-
Mother-centered postpartum education during prenatal visits, including: helping a mother plan for short- and long-term support, nutritional counseling, what to expect during postpartum time, list of recommended supplies and resources
-
A calm, grounding presence for mother and her whole family
-
Physical support:: Body & Soul sessions, therapeutic touch for mom and baby, castor oil packs, yoni steaming, herbal baths, guided breathing, physical alignment support practices
-
Assistance with Elimination Communication and babywearing
-
Light housework, room freshening, meal prep
-
Nutritional support: nutritional counseling, nutrient-dense easily-digestible meals, optional meal add-ons (all ingredients sourced from my homestead or purchased local or organic)
-
Herbal teas, salves, and remedies made from herbs grown in my garden
-
Placenta preparations and rituals as you wish
-
Ceremony / Ritual to honor your journey
